Big Deal

Text:  Rev. 1:18

Lesson:  John 20:1-19

So what Jesus resurrected, has he being the only one who has ever been raised from death?

Yes to this question, there is no big deal because so many other people have been raised from deaths.

Examples before Jesus:

I Kings 17:22.  The widow of Zarephath’s son.

II Kings 4:35.  The Shunanimite’s son

II Kings 13:21.  Elisha’s bones brought a dead man alive.

Examples during Jesus life.

Matt. 9:25.  Jairus daughter

Matt. 27:52.  Saints at the time of crucifixion

John 11:44.  Lazarus

After Jesus.

Acts 9:40.  Dorcas

The only difference is that all those people died again and are permanently dead until we meet in paradise.  But Jesus is alive today and well.  He remains forever.

 Rev. 1:18 – so big deal it is.

He is the one who surrendered his own life unlike the others who had no control over their deaths or lives.  John 19:11.

The only one who died because of our offenses, Rom. 4:25 and the only one who was raised for our justification.  Rom. 6:9 – Big deal it is!

It is big deal because those others couldn’t resurrect without the power of Jesus.

I Pet. 1:3, only in His resurrection do we and those others have hope of eternal salvation.  John 14:2-3 – the only one who went to prepare a place for us. 

Jesus is the one we cannot live without.  So, it’s a big deal that He is alive… Oh! What a great God He is.
